Elbasan, May 8th 2019 – Amidst the flags of European Union member states and an atmosphere curated to the last detail, the Kindergarten Nr.9 organized an activity on “The way to Europe passes through us”. The kids had made with their own hands the flags of different European countries, and they informed one another on the population, the capital and other interesting special features of these states.
The kids were very well prepared and showcased their knowledge in an environment that was all about knowing Europe.
The role of local self-governance in the policy and Acquis Communitaire implementation, as well as in the European integration agenda is very important. The European Commission highlights this role in the 2019 Communication on EU Enlargement Policy as follows: “The role of regional and local authorities should be taken into account in the process of EU harmonization and eventual application of EU rules. An appropriate balance must be found between central, regional and local government that best supports the implementation of reforms and the provision of services to citizens.
Together with Mrs. Jessi Sinakolli, the representative of the European Union Delegation to Albania, Mrs. Jolanda Trebicka, Project Manager and Coordinator of "Municipalities for Europe" and Ms. Iva Choku, Director of the Diversity Promotion Program in the Europe Council in Albania, an informative meeting was held in the premises of the Municipality of Gramsh, on various issues concerning the municipality and the possibility of financing projects that provide solution to such issues, through the help of EU funds.
"Measuring the performance of municipalities is of particular importance, in the context of Albania's EU integration process." This was stated by Mr. Orlando Fusco, the Head of the Good Governance Program at the European Union Delegation in Tirana, during the meeting held in the Municipality of Lezha for the presentation of the 2018 Evaluation Report.
