In the framework of “Europe Week”, the EU Corner in the Municipality of Elbasan in cooperation with the city’s Public Library, the director for culture in the municipality, Mr. Fatmir Musaj and the students of literature held a roundtable discussion on the influence of authors from Elbasan towards the European orientation of Albania. As a city of tradition and education, Elbasan has many reasons to feel proud of itself. Such is Dhaskal Todri, the first to bring the letters of the Albanian alphabet from Europe and Konstandin Kristoforidhi, considered as the father of Albanian language.
The head of the European Integration and Foreign Assistance Coordination Unit, in the Municipality of Elbasan, Erion Ibërshmi stressed that it was precisely these author’s writings that influenced our country’s European approach. According to him the road towards the EU needs not only the fulfillment of political, economical and legal duties. It needs culture too.
The director of the “Q.Baholli” Library, Aida Gashi said that the cultural values of this city’s authors should be preserved with fanaticism and passed on to the new generations. While the director of Culture in the Municipality of Elbasan, Fatmir Musaj said that our road to Europe is paved by the diversity that distinguishes us from others.
