On 8 March 2018, within the framework of the International Women's Day, the EU Corner in Mallakastra Municipality, in cooperation with the Department of Social Affairs in this municipality and some civil society organizations working in Ballsh city, organized a exchange of views meeting with women of the region.
During this meeting, the participants not only did a very interesting conversation about the problems and challenges faced by women in the Mallakastra region, but some of the most important topics that were discussed were related to the empowerment of women in this region and their involvement in short-term or long-term municipal strategies.
The representatives of the civil society shared with those present stories of success regarding the contribution of women to various EU-funded projects.
During this meeting, some ideas for potential projects were raised, which would embrace both local government and civil society in the region, focusing more on the the role of women in the community. EU Corner Coordinator, during this conversation, underlined a number of European programs from where the necessary funds for these project ideas could be generated.
