For two consecutive days, "Municipalities for Europe", a project financed by the European Union and the Agency for the Support of Local Self-Government, organized an information session on the evaluation of the performance of municipalities, during which the report on "Municipalities in the process of Albania's integration into the European Union - Performance evaluation 2021"was presented .
The General Director of AMVV, Mr. Arben Skenderi, speaking about the Report, said that "This is the only regular assessment that is made on the implementation of the European integration agenda at the local level. To be more precise, this is a self-assessment that we make on our achievements, the mirror where we should see ourselves into". According to Mr. Skenderi, "this should be a faithful reflection of the progress made by the local government in fulfilling the obligations that arise from the European integration agenda, but also the challenges that the municipalities encounter in this important process on the way to meeting the standards required by the Stabilization and Association Agreement".
In her greeting, Mrs. Marie Augouy, Program Manager for Regional and Local Government at the Delegation of the European Union, emphasized the importance of the full commitment of municipal leaders to support the coordinating work of the staff of the European Integration Units. "The project has already started the training of these managers, and we hope that this will also increase their commitment", said Mrs. Augouy, adding that "the European Union is paying more and more attention to the increase of assistance for the local government in Albania".
Regarding the 2022 indicators, a detailed information on the revised indicators was given by the head of the Development Sector in the Agency for the Support of Local Self-Government, Mr. Stiljan Llavdaniti.
Ms. Jolanda Trebicka, Head of the Project "Municipalities for Europe" presented the emerging issues and the lessons learned during the process carried out throughout 2021, specifically focusing on the performance of municipalities in the collection and reporting of data, which serve as a basis for drafting the report.
Likewise, during the second day of the information session, Mrs. Trebicka gave a detailed presentation, accompanied with concrete instructions on the new Electronic Project Registration System, which is financed by foreign donors.
During both days of the information session, discussions and Question and Answer sessions were held with the leaders and staff of the European Integration Units in all 61 municipalities of Albania, while the second day was focused on training new staff.
