On Friday, September 29, 2023, the "Municipalities for Europe" Project, in collaboration with the Agency for the Support of Local Self-Government, "Beyond Barriers," "Salto," and "Europe Goes Local," organized an Informative Day with the theme "Empowering Youth at the Local Level: Bringing Albanian Municipalities Closer to European Opportunities."
The event was attended by the staff members of the European Integration Units in the municipalities of Albania. The attendees were welcomed by the Team Leader of the "Municipalities for Europe" Project, Ms. Jolanda Trebicka, who also presented the Survey of the Agency for the Support of Local Self-Government on Cross-Municipal Cooperation within the Decentralization Strategy 2023 – 2030, as well as the questionnaire and data collection process.
Mr. Dragan Atanasov, Coordinator of SALTO SEE EGL, gave a presentation on the development of quality and standards in European youth work, specifically discussing the practice of youth centers in Northern Macedonia. His presentation was followed by a Q&A session with the representatives of the Integration Units.
Ms. Ana Mullanji, from BBA, the Contact Point for Erasmus+ and ESC in Albania, presented the strategic partnership "Europe Goes Local" and explained with concrete examples how municipalities can engage with and benefit from this partnership, along with the use of the YO-Link Platform. Ms. Mullanji also talked about the synergy between Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps initiatives as a way to increase youth engagement and capacity development in Albania.
The Team Leader of "Municipalities for Europe," Ms. Jolanda Trebicka, provided concrete examples of Multifunctional Youth Centers that have received continuous support from the "Municipalities for Europe" Project, as well as the successful experience of transforming them into hubs for empowering youth and promoting cohesion in our community.
Meanwhile, Ms. Dafina Peci from the National Youth Congress spoke about promoting youth work through cooperative enterprises, specifically highlighting the role of the National Youth Congress in shaping future leaders
