Fier, Roskovec, Patos, Vlora, Himara 4-6 July 2018
The European Union Corners in the Municipalities of Fier, Roskovec, Patos, Vlora and Himara, organized on 4-6 July 2018, a three-day tour in these five Local Government Units with groups of high school students from each city mentioned above.
After a long work, since the initial opening of the EU Corners in January this year, in every municipality of the country, EU local coordinators in some of the cities are now forward thinking and ambitious in organising activities with participants from the sorrounding areas and cities. Therefore, the EU coordinators of the municipalities of Fier, Roskovec, Patos, Vlora, Himara started these days a very interesting networking process of the EU's corners, combining a multi-layer activity in each of the municipalities involved in this initiative.
The activities kicked off from the city of Fier, to be completed on July 6, 2018 in the town of Himara, where more than 30 young people, led by the EU Coordinators of these municipalities, as well as members of the pedagogical staff of their schools, experienced a unique experience, which included:
- Public hearings with the mayors in each municipality involved in this initiative regarding the fulfillment of youth requirements for European standards on quality of life, environment, education, public services and recreation.
- Public hearings with members of the city council of each city involved in this summer itinerary, regarding consultations with youth groups in the process of drafting long-term strategies for cities.
This tour was planned in the form of a journey of experiences and sharing concerns with local authorities for a European Albania. The itineraries of these selected youths, in this three-day tour, include the recognition of common realities, cultural values and city traditions, the recognition of best practices of youth concerns at the municipal level, other units of local government apart from the city where they reside, as well as be introduced with other realities and destinations.
This tour was a great opportunity for all these young people to socialize with other young people in some cities and to discuss with them about moments of recreation, ideas and views for a European Albania that will be developed and advanced only by the new generation.
This activity was carried out in cooperation with the municipalities of the cities involved in this initiative fully supported by the project 'Municipalities for Europe'.
