Elbasan, April 26th 2019 – The European Integration and Foreign Assistance Coordination Unit in the Municipality of Elbasan, organized an information session on the European Union in the Qafë village, part of the Labinot-Mal Administrative unit, located about 35 kilometers away from Elbasan city. The meeting was held at the “Ibrahim Bozhiqi” high school, with the presence of this year’s graduate students.

The coordinator of the EU Corner, Erion Ibërshimi explained the “Municipalities for Europe” project, the activities developed within this project until now and gave detailed information on the role of the European Integration Unit at a local level, as well as about the information services provided by the EU Corner in the Municipality of Elbasan.

The main topics on which this information session revolved were mostly about the history of European Union, its main institutions, symbols, core values etc. Among others, the role of the local government on the European Integration process has been addressed.

A dedicated space on this Info Day was planned for European Union’s policies and programs devoted to young people. During this time there were long discussions with the students, who showed particular interest in the Erasmus + program, the opportunities it offers, ways of applying, scholarships and universities where they can embark this interesting experience.

At the end of the event, a meeting was scheduled for the following week that will be hosted by the EU Corner in Elbasan organized in the form of a volleyball championship between the students of "Ibrahim Bozhiqi" school.
