In a touching example of solidarity, an excellent cooperation has taken shape these difficult days, among the group of leaders and specialists of the European Integration Units in the Municipalities of Albania.
For a long time, all of them have been part of a group that is in constant communication with each other. And in these difficult days, when the vast majority of Albanians are in quarantine due to the pandemic of Covid-19, this kind of cooperation has been worth more than ever.
Specialists of the European Integration Unit in the Municipality of Memaliaj, have distributed food packages to the citizens of this city that were the most in need, those who have difficulties in coping with living costs, especially in these days when it is impossible to even work. The food packages were prepared and sent by the head of the European Integration Unit in the Municipality of Vau i Dejës, Mrs. Entela Kolaj.
After the call for helping these residents by the specialist of the Integration Unit in the Municipality of Memaliaj, Mrs. Kolaj managed to mobilize a local NGO to help. Thanks to this mobilization, 130 food packages were distributed to the families in need allover Memaliaj.
This is not the only example - albeit the most prominent - of the activity that the network of coordinators has had during these days of implementing social distancing measures. Between them there are many other collaborations, such as this one, in the spirit of the values of solidarity, values that lie at the foundation of the creation of the EU as we know it today. "Municipalities for Europe" is continuing to offer its contribution in these difficult days for all Albanians.
