On the 3rd of May, The European Integration and Foreign Assistance Coordination Unit in the Municipality of Elbasan, in the framework of “Europe Week” organized a Volleyball Cup with the “Ibrahim Bozhiqi” school of the village Qafe, part of the Administrative Unit of Labinot – Mal.
The coordinator of the EU Corner in Elbasan, Erion Ibërshimi in close cooperation with the physical education teacher of the school, Mr. Mauro Zhupani managed to organize for the first time an activity of these sorts for the school. Preliminary matches and the semi-finals had already been played leaving for this occasion only the women’s and man finals. The judge of these matches was the professional player of the city’s volley team, Kozma Dulja, who also offered his valuable technical and tactical details, along with his experience, throughout the game.
Closing this activity, made possible by the “Municipalities for Europe” project, was a symbolic ceremony of awarding the Cup and Medals to the winners. Also, the physical education teacher in cooperation with the professional volley player selected 5 girls and 5 boys to represent “Ibrahim Bozhiqi” school at the Volleyball Tournament.
The Volleyball Tournament will be held in Tirana on May 10th and 11th inf the framework of “Europe Week”. In this tournament, made possible by Europe House and the Albanian Volleyball Federation, will participate different high schools from different cities of Albania, and the representative for Elbasan is precisely “Ibrahim Bozhiqi” high school.
All the students, school leaders and the community welcomed this special activity. Even though it was organized in a mountain village at about 800 meters above sea level, without optimal conditions for playing volleyball, such as lacking paved area, nothing got in the way of enthusiasm of the participants and the spread of positive values. Through this event, made possible by the EU Corner emerged the “Power of Youth” that will serve as a source of motivation for the entire community of Labinot – Mal area.
