TROPOJE, May 8th – The heads of Tropoja’s school senates, teachers, coordinators of student bodies and school leaders gathered around a discussing session held at the City Hall of Tropoja, called “Hear us too!”

The City Council Chairman, Mr. Imer Hoxha and Deputy Mayor Feride Rrahmanaj were also active participants in the meeting.

Later, the students worked in groups and individually in order to come up with a list of problems that hey encounter during their everyday life, in school or in their neighborhoods. This list was later handed, during a special meeting, to the Mayor of Tropoja, mr. Besnik Dushaj.

Some of the issues, that one representative body of students and teachers expressed and discussed at the meeting with the Mayor, were road safety near schools, their hygienic situations, the lack of sports or entertaining spaces for kids, functional libraries etc.

The Mayor promised that their requests will be taken in consideration and treated with the utmost seriousness. Taking in consideration the fact that this activity with youth was organized as part of the activities held in all 61 Albanian municipalities, in the framework of Europe Week, Mr. Dushaj stressed the importance of teaching to young kids European values, like volunteering and engaging in community development. “By being active and engaged and by taking initiatives, starting from the place where we live, your schools, our city, you can be the example of the values that make you real Europeans” – said Mr. Dushaj.

The EU Corner in Tropoja Municipality will keep organizing such activities with different community groups.
