The European Integration and External Assistance Coordination Unit in the Municipality of Përmet joined the initiatives undertaken throughout Europe in the framework of the European Days of Local Solidarity. The event organized on November 26, 2019 was entitled "Youth Power in Protecting Europe's Last Wild River".

The Vjosa River is one of the last "wild" rivers in Europe, so we must protect it. Knowledge of its values, functions and potential for sustainable economic development is very limited, so this activity aimed to inform and raise awareness of the community regardig the conservation of Vjosa River.

The awareness campaign was designed and implemented by young people. This event was organized in cooperation with the association "Environment, Water and Forests" and the Center for Regional Development. 

The activity included:

  • “Save Vjosa” Exhibition - Information, facts and photos about Vjosa were displayed in the center of the city.
  • Plastic Recycling Corner - Plastic collected from cleaning activities in the Vjosa Valley was used to create various recycled products, which were exhibited in the city center.
  • A creative youth awareness campaign - videos with messages were realized from young people.
  • Environmental Conference- presentation of the study "Integrated Plan for Sustainable Environmental Development in the Municipality of Permet”
