On Friday, 12 April 2019, the Comission for EU Integration held its next meeting in the city of Përmet. The European Integration and Foreign Assistance Coordination Unit, in the Municipality of Përmet, assisted in organization of the meeting.

In addition to the members of the Commission, representatives from local institutions (Municipalities, Education Offices, Schools, etc.) were present, together with regional institutions (Prefecture and District), active members of the community, representatives of civil society and youth. 

Among the topics addressed during the meeting were issues related to the implementation of EU projects and the role of local government in properly informing the community about the various topics of the EU and their benefits for the citizens.

The Unit Leader explained the various problems that Municipalities face in the implementation of EU projects and also briefly described the work done by this Unit regarding youth information and awareness on various topics of the EU as well as providing information to farmers and civil society organizations regarding the European Union funds.

The same problems, mainly those concerned to the implementation of EU projects, were raised also by members of the civil society, the prefecture and the district. 

At the end, the meeting emphasized that the road to European integration is not easy, but it is important to cooperate and engage everyone to go to the end of this road.
