Under the ReLOaD Program (Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans), which is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Municipality of Tropoja and the Alpin association have implemented the project “ Youth for the City ”in Tropoja Municipality.
The project was based on two training programs: one on developing the Tourism Guide (nature guide) and the other on Culinary (tourist gastronomy). These two training programs were facilitated by contracted trainers and developed in Bajram Curri, Tropoja.
Through a presentation we also understood every activity that was carried out as part of the project. The culinary course was attended by 12 young girls from Tropoja who for two months received the main theoretical base, while practicing in the main restaurants in Valbona Valley. While the course for the nature guides was attended by young girls and boys who will manage to promote the values of the local natural wonders, even those unexplored places that besides beautiful nature poses also important cultural heritage.
The project had achieved the objectives and results foreseen at the outset. As a result, the Alpin Association operating in the city of Bajram Curri conducted a closing cocktail with the project stakeholders, partners and beneficiaries, which also revealed the expertise gained from the project implementation.
The European Integration Unit of Tropoja participated in this closing event, expressing their congratulations on the successful completion of the project and showing a strong interest for an ongoing cooperation. In the group of youth there was also the President of the Students' Union who participates in the Parliament of the Government of Albanian Students. Meeting and getting to know him was very important for any future activity and project, as it is the voice of all students in the district of Tropoja. Youth are also at the center of the successful services and well-functioning of our office, so the creation of networks will be of interest in building capacities towards achieving European standard.
