On 27 June, 2023, the "Municipalities for Europe project", in collaboration with the Agency for Support of Local Self-Government and Regional Development Programme Albania, organized at the Palace of Congresses, the SECOND SESSION of the trainings focusing on the topic: "European Union Cohesion Policies", with the participation of the European Integration Units and other interested staff from the Albanian municipalities.
Similar to the first session, the training with the staff of the Integration Units and municipal staff focused on reflections on the regional and cohesion policy of the European Union, delving into the context and the cohesion policies pursued by the EU today, as well as the principles on which they are based. Special attention was given to the topic of "EU Cohesion Policy and Albania," as well as the preparations needed regarding the Accession Negotiations, particularly Chapter 22.
In their welcoming remarks, Mr. Arben Skënderi, the General Director of the Agency for Support of Local Self-Government, and Ms. Jolanda Trebicka, the Project Director of "Municipalities for Europe," emphasized the importance of these trainings in fulfilling the increasingly active role that the European Integration Units and the staff of local government bodies have and will continue to have in the process of Albania's EU integration.
