On January 29, 2019, the EU Integration Unit in the Municipality of Pogradec in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Organization Beyond the Barriers, the Contact Point for the Erasmus + Youth in Action Program in Albania and the European Solidarity Corpse organized a Youth Information Day on "Opportunities to Benefit from European Union Programs". This event was organised in the framework of the “Municipalities for Europe” EU Funded Project.
This  Event  offered to the participants  an opportunity to be informed about the training and education opportunities offered by the Erasmus + Program, Youth in Action, the European Solidarity Corpse Program, and other European programs, and how they can be part of these activities, and what skills they will get through them.
To make the event more concrete, one of the participants of the Erasmus + Program shared his experience and provided concrete details on how young people can be part and benefit of participating in these programs. At the same time, the participants were informed about the Erasmus + scholarships, the professional growth of young people and the creation of youth networks through these events.
The representative of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Mrs.Jehona Varfi, emphasized the institution's commitment to create an enabling environment for youth activism and supporting such initiatives.
In addition, discussions were focused on the the possibility of involving young people in the activities of civil society organizations. The teachers and organisations that were present in the meeting were encouraged to support and involve them as much as possible. One of the commitments undertaken by the Municipality was the establishment of the Youth Council in this institution and in the meantime, it will work closely with the school teachers and the organizations of Pogradec to involve more and more young people in their activities.
The discussion also emphasised the lack of continuous information on the opportunities offered by the European Union. To this end, the European Integration Unit at Pogradec Municipality will organize dedicated sessions in schools, civil society, interest groups on these opportunities. Also, the database of local actors will be expanded to enable the distribution of announcements and activities to be organized by the Integration Unit in the Municipality of Pogradec in the future.
