Puka Culture Day, at the same time the opening of the touristic season, this year in the city of Puka was organised with the support of the Project ‘Municipalities for Europe’.
Considered as an activity which this year is also combined with the ‘European Year of Cultural Heritage’, the Puka Culture day, took place in several forms. At the beginning a round table was organized to talk about the cultural and natural potentials of the area and their role in the development of tourism in this region.
Participants in this thematic debate included: Mr. Gjon Gjonaj, Mayor of the City, Ms. SULKA Entela, representative of the EU Delegation to Albania, Mr. Bekim Murati, General Director of AMVV, Ms. Jolanda Trebicka, Project Manager of "Municipalities for Europe", Ms. Majlinda Lacaj, Director of the Regional Directorate of National Culture in Shkodra, Mr. Leonard Maçi, Director of Marketing and Promotion at AKT and many other representatives of local institutions in the city, civil society organizations and business representatives who expressed thoughts and opinions on finding the right strategies that could improve life quality for the citizens of Puka through sustainable and quality tourism development, as well as the preservation and use of tradition and culture in its function.
Furthermore, the Puka Culture Day was complemented by a fair-like presentation in which artisanal products neatly produced by the inhabitants of the area were exposed and promoted.
At the closing of the day, the traditional dances, songs and outfits of the Puka region were also the best postcards displayed during the opening of the tourist season in the city.
